Fast 2026 - Day 4

First things First

Matthew 6:33 - Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all of these things (life’s necessities) will be added unto you.

Psalm 27:4 (TPT) - Here’s the one thing I crave from God, the one thing I seek above all else: I want the privilege of living with Him every moment in His house, finding the sweet loveliness of His face, filled with awe, delighting in His glory and grace.  I want to live my life so close to Him that He takes pleasure in my every prayer.

It is easy to get distracted with all of the cares of our lives.  The scriptures tell us that the world runs after these things—houses, cars, clothing, food, etc.  however, this is not the Lord’s desire for His followers.  The scriptures reveal to us that God’s desire is that our priorities be in the right order so that His blessings and provision can flow freely to us as we have need.  His Kingdom and His righteousness (His Will) must be our first priority.  When our hearts are focused first and foremost on pleasing God then our activities will be in line with His will and we can expect His generous provision.

He’s our loving Father, and He will do His part as our provider to make sure that we have everything we need in this life—we can trust Him in this.  These things should not be our primary focus and aim (these are distractions); we don’t need to chase after these things—that’s His part!  He is our loving Father who desires to give us of His Kingdom! We are to chase after (PURSUE) Him!   Our part is to ask, seek and knock that we may discover, on a daily basis, what His will is for us today and what would He have us to do.  All of this, (our part and His part) functions and flows out of a loving, intimate and close relationship.  We are not alone and we don’t have to make it all happen!  We just stay close to Him, and in love we trust Him to care for us.  We respond in love by obeying whatever He tells us to do.  In this place—the secret place—we receive peaceful rest for our weary souls and tired bodies.  It is in this place that we are refreshed and receive His gifts for the day.  Linger here…..

Father, You desire to have first place in our hearts and lives. You have told us to bring our cares to You, for You love and care for us.  You have already provided everything we will ever need.  We humble ourselves before you and say, “Thank You for Your love and tender care, for Your generous provision and wonderful gifts.  We repent for the times we did not trust You, but instead yielded to fear and attempted to provide for ourselves.  Today we turn away from self-reliance and pride.  We return to the knowledge that You love us and know what we need.  It is out of Your pleasure that You give to us generously every good and beneficial thing. There is no lack in Your kingdom!  We set our hearts and minds on You today and we receive Your peace as You refresh our souls and our bodies.  In Jesus Name, Amen!
