When your heart starts racing over what has not happened yet, it is easy to begin focusing on what could go wrong. We wonder when, why, and how God is going to work. But sometimes we have to speak to our own soul and say, Be still. God has not changed. His Word has not changed. His promise has not changed.
The same God who provided before will provide again.
Your need has not taken God by surprise. Your situation has not exhausted heaven’s resources. The God who spoke the universe into existence is not worried about how He will care for you. A delay does not mean God has forgotten you, and it does not mean His promise has been denied. Sometimes the harvest is simply still growing.
Remember Where God Has Provided Before
In Genesis 22, Abraham called the place where God provided a ram in place of Isaac Jehovah Jireh, meaning, “The Lord will provide.” What is powerful is that Jehovah Jireh was not only a name of God; it was also the name of a place.
All of us have places in our lives where God made a way when we did not know what to do. A season when the answer showed up unexpectedly. A door that opened. A person God used. A need that was met when there seemed to be no natural way.
One of the best ways to build your faith for today is to remember where God provided yesterday. He did not bring you through before just to abandon you now. The God who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it.
Provision Often Follows Obedience
Abraham’s story also teaches us that provision is often found on the other side of trust and obedience. He did not understand everything God was asking, but he obeyed anyway.
Real faith is not proven when everything is easy. It is proven when God’s instruction does not make sense in the natural, but we choose to trust Him anyway.
We see the same pattern throughout Scripture. At the wedding in Cana, Mary told the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” The miracle came when they obeyed Jesus and filled the waterpots. In the feeding of the five thousand, the miracle began when a boy placed his small lunch into Jesus’ hands and the disciples began distributing what looked insufficient.
Sometimes we are waiting for God to provide before we move, while God is waiting for us to move in faith so He can reveal Himself as our provider.
What Have You Concluded?
Hebrews tells us that Abraham “concluded” that God was able even to raise Isaac from the dead. In other words, before he ever climbed the mountain, he had already settled something in his heart: God can be trusted.
The conclusions we make matter. If we conclude that our situation is hopeless, we will live from fear. But if we conclude that God is faithful, we will keep trusting, praying, obeying, and believing.
Maybe you have been tempted to say, “It is what it is.” But when Jesus steps into a situation, it does not have to stay what it is. Two fish and five loaves became more than enough. Water became wine. Dead things came back to life.
So do not make your final conclusion based only on what you can see today. Trust the miracle worker standing in front of you.
The Lord Will Provide
God is still Jehovah Jireh. He still meets needs. He still opens doors. He still makes a way where there seems to be no way. He has not forgotten you, forsaken you, or run out of resources.
So steady your heart today. Remember what He has already done. Trust and obey what He is asking of you now. And let this be your conclusion:
The Lord will provide.
Prayer
Father, thank You that You are Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides. When our hearts are tempted to worry, help us remember the ways You have already been faithful. Teach us to trust You when we do not understand, to obey You even when the path is not clear, and to believe that You are working on our behalf.
Where we have settled into fear, discouragement, or the belief that “it is what it is,” renew our minds with faith. Remind us that nothing is too hard for You, no need is beyond Your reach, and no promise You have spoken will fail. We place our lives, our families, our needs, and our futures into Your hands today, and we declare with confidence: The Lord will provide.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
