God Initiates Desire

Philippians 2:13 (AMP) For it is not your strength, but it is God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work, that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose for His good pleasure.

In John 6:44 Jesus said, “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws them.”  During this time that we have set apart to draw near and pursue the One who is pursuing us, we believe that He is the One who initiated this time.  It is His desire to draw us near to Him; He is the One who initiates desire in us to want to be near Him and to be pleasing to Him and it is by His grace that we respond to His desire.

Father, we thank You for drawing us near to You and that You are at work in us both to will and to do what is pleasing to You.  It is written in Your word that You started a good work in each of us and that You are faithful, You can be trusted to bring Your work to completion or perfect maturity!  You are preparing us for Your Son.  Father, we ask You to increase the desire in us with such a deep longing to please and accomplish Your will in our lives.  We ask that You would impart to us perseverance and resolve to press in close and to stay connected to You for You are our life source—You are the way, the Truth, and the Life.  We are determined during this time to keep on asking, to keep on seeking, and to keep on knocking—with Your help, we will stay the course and we will experience Your times of refreshing !  Thank You Father, in Jesus Name, Amen!
