The Secret Place
Matthew 6:6 (TPT) But whenever you pray, go into your innermost chamber (the secret place) and be alone with Father God, praying to Him in secret.
In order for any relationship to grow in closeness, intimacy and honesty—to truly know one another, time must be invested. It takes time to turn our hearts towards one another, to really look to see, and listen to hear the heart of the one we desire.
During this time of Pursuing Jesus, let us intentionally find a place--free from distractions—a place where we can freely worship and pray—just you and Jesus; a place where you can go and shut the door—you know—that place of “Do Not Disturb,” so you can meet with God in secret. It is in this place of intimacy—the secret place—where God grows in us a stronger desire to be close to Him and to please Him. It is in this place that we hear the whispers of His heart. This secret place fFor some may be a closet or a room, or the bathroom/shower, or for some it may be your car or out in nature—but wherever it is, may it be a place where you run to meet with the One you love alone; a place to just be still and quietly sit with Him as He refreshes your soul and gives you strength and strategy for the day ahead. Give Him your full attention—look to see and listen to hear and don’t be in a hurry.
Father, show us that place where we can come away to meet with You in the secret place. Lord, show us any distractions that need to be removed so that when we come to meet with You, we come with our whole heart—longing to be with You and to know You better so that we may live lives that are pleasing to You. Fill us with hunger and thirst so that like the deer that pants for the refreshing waters—we run and pant with intense desire for You—for we know that in Your presence we experience real joy. In the secret place Lord, may we drink deeply from Your streams of living waters that refresh us. In Jesus Name, Amen!
