Not Until…
Genesis 32: 24-28 (TPT) and Jacob was left all alone. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a man appeared and wrestled with him until daybreak. When the man saw that he was not winning the match, he struck Jacob’s hip and knocked it out of joint, leaving it wrenched as he continued to wrestle with him. Eventually, the man said to him, “Let me go, for the day is breaking.” But Jacob refused. “No! Not until you bless me!” “What is your name?” asked the man. “Jacob,” he replied. “Not anymore,” the man said to him. “Your new name is Israel, for you have struggled both with God and with people and have overcome.”
As we continue in our pursuit of Him through prayer and fasting, by now we have felt hunger pangs and have already had to deal with the temptation to quit as the cravings, longings scream to be satisfied! Be encouraged beloved, that if you have slipped and fallen, there is no condemnation, but in love, we urge you to get back up and to continue in your pursuit of the One pursuing you. Fasting and prayer is how we humble ourselves and instead of reaching for food, which satisfies for a moment, we are reaching for Him—for He satisfies every longing and His benefits are unending! Remember, it is in His very Presence, as we meet with Him in the secret place, that we receive refreshing in every season!
We have determined in our hearts to keep on asking, seeking and knocking until the door of revelation opens to us; until we come into a place of greater love and knowledge of the One who loves us, until we grow up in faith and come into spiritual maturity, until we are living in the freedom of His blessings and all of those benefits—not just for ourselves but for all of our loved ones too! Remember the desperation of the young man Jacob, who wrestled all night long with the angel of God—for he had determined in his heart that no matter what, he was not going to let go of the angel until God blessed him! With the same desperation, do not let go until you receive His blessing—His Promise for you and your family! Don’t stop beloved! Press in and hold on UNTIL!
Father, with all of our hearts, we draw near and press in! We understand that You are drawing very near to us and that You are the One initiating this desire to be close to You! By faith we grab hold of You and we will not let go until You bless us—our families, Hope City Church, our region and our nation, O Lord! We ask You to reveal Your will for our lives. We seek to know Your plan and what You have purposed in Your heart for us. You are our strength and the very joy of our lives! We know that you have a good future and a hope for us and we are desperate to experience more of Your power—Your Presence—Your glory in our lives! Bring refreshing to the dry and barren places that we may be fruitful in every season! In Jesus Name, Amen!
